On August 28, The American Chamber of Commerce in Japan (ACCJ) hosted a special in-person event titled, “The Power of Generative AI to Boost Business: Three Case Studies”, at the Crypto Café & Bar in Shibuya, Tokyo. Thirty-five (35) individuals attended to gain first-hand insights into case studies on the practical application of generative AI in the business landscape.

Prominent business leaders were invited to present three distinct case studies and share their personal experiences. The speakers were Oliver Greenwald, founder of SpiritAnimal.ai and community designer at Digital Architecture Lab; Ted Katagi, founder and CEO of Kenja; and Takeo Apitzsch, Chief Digital Officer & Deputy General Manager at The Hoffman Agency.

Ted Katagi opened his presentation with an exploration of how chatbots can enhance customer service. His case study illustrated the challenges faced by a large corporation’s customer service team after the new Japanese Invoice System was enacted in 2023. The agents were inundated with queries due to the policy’s complexity, leading to reduced efficiency and increased costs.

To address the issue, Kenja AI was employed to create a local corpus on the new Japanese Invoice System, which was then used to train a chatbot. By utilizing Kenja’s instant RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) feature, the Kenja Filtered Retrieval (KFR), the chatbot assisted agents by generating detailed and accurate responses to queries, effectively reducing call times and improving client satisfaction.
